Meeting Schedule

Meetings are usually the third Wednesday of each month
Meeting details will be emailed to members about one week before each meeting. If you do not get email, it is your responsibility to find a member who will volunteer to keep you informed. All of our events are open to anyone who wishes to attend. Occasionally members will be asked to RSVP if space is limited or we are visiting a facility that requires security clearance.

On odd numbered months we have a speaker
who gives a presentation on some aspect of metal working or a topic that is of interest to people who enjoy the mechanical arts. We meet at the Town of Brookhaven Ecology Center in Holtsville. Scroll down for driving directions. We assemble between 6:30 and 7:30 for SWAP MEET / SHOW & TELL. Before the meeting we have an informal swap meet. Members are encouraged to bring unwanted tools, literature, metal stock or anything relating to metalworking that they wish to sell. We also have show & tell. Please bring your current project or other items that you think the group might find interesting. The meeting will be called to order at 7:30.

On even numbered months we do a tour.
We visit our members home shops, machine shops, engineering schools and other industrial facilities that are of interest to metal workers. These events are not necessarily held on the third Wednesday of the month but we make an effort to stay as close to that date as possible. Dates and starting times for these tours are specified by the host.

Finding speakers and places that we can tour is the most difficult aspect of running this organization. If you would like to give a presentation, host a tour, or have any suggestions for a speaker or tour please contact Jamie Swan.

From the Long Island Expressway East bound:
Get off at Exit #62 South. That is the exit for Nicolls Road. When you get off the exit you will be on the Expressway service road. Don't get on Nicolls Road, just stay on the service road and continue East until you get to Waverly Ave. That will be the next intersection. It is not very far at all. Make a right on Waverly Ave.

Go about 1 1/2 miles and make a left on Blue Point Road. There is a deli on the far left corner.

Once you are on Blue Point Rd. immediately make a right on Canine Road.

Go to the end of Canine Rd. It is a very short road.

At the end of Canine Road make a right on Buckley Road.

The entrance to the Ecology Center is immediately on your left.

As soon as you enter the Ecology Center you will come to a T. Make a right at the T. The road will sweep around to your left. Once you get around that bend you will see a building straight ahead. There is a greenhouse attached to the near end of that building and there is a security guard booth on the left side.

Go straight ahead and pull up on the left side of the building past the security booth. If there is a guard in the booth tell them you are there for the metalworkers club meeting. You can park there on the left side of the building or around the back. Just be sure to leave a lane open for cars to pass. There is a unmarked door on the side of the building just past the greenhouse. Our meeting room is through that door.
